About

The Stiles Psychophysics Laboratory is a part of the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research in the Brain Health Institute at Rutgers University.

We are inspired by the complexity and intricacy of the human brain. We use both computational expertise and creativity to discover new ways the senses communicate, and neural networks adapt. This work ranges from innovating new illusions to brain imaging patients with implanted visual prostheses. Our research bridges disciplines from biomedical engineering to psychology and integrates scientific approaches.

We believe that diversity is our strength and brings new perspectives to research. We welcome into our community and the research process both researchers from diverse backgrounds and the blind and low vision community. We will be including a page on the website for research participants and other members of the visually impaired community to learn about the studies we have published (Research for a General Audience).

Lab meetings

Our lab participates in the bimonthly Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research lab meeting, and the annual Brain Health Institute symposium at Rutgers.

Conferences

We also often present at the Vision Sciences Society Annual Meeting, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Annual Meeting, the International Multisensory Research Forum, and the BRAIN Initiative Conference.
